Free, stand-alone program for printing HDV back to tape?

I have one HDV machine (the HV20).

I want to back-up my tapes.

I can copy them into the PC using HDVsplit.

How can I print these files back onto tape? (Preferably a single tape with all time-stamps etc intact)

Is there anything available for this yet?

So you read the manual too?

From some of the posts on here I didn't think that was allowed!

That's certainly the technique I need from the HV20 end, but what I'm lacking is the software on the PC to send the m2t files back out of the Firewire port into the HV20.

I only have one HV20s and don't intend buying another one, so the PC (with previously captured files) has to act as the source.

I can only quote from the Studio 11 Manual.
Provided the camera is connected via the Firewire, the "Make Tape" instruction will recognise the IEEE-1394 connection and download to the HV20 automatically.
Does your software have anything similar?

I don't think Adobe or Pinnacle give away the software you're describing for free, do they?

I'm just looking for a simple, free utility for dumping .m2t files back to tape. That's all.

Go on! Splash out! Get a decent NLE. You'll be handcarving the pictures onto your hard disk next!

Both Pinnacle and Adobe do free 30 day trial downloads. Can you do your .m2t downloads in 30 days?

Yes, I'll need an NLE, but from the descriptions they don't seem best suited to the simple application of dumping all the footage from one tape back to a second tape.

I want something that I can freely load onto any machine that can keep up (it's only 25Mbps after all - been doing that with DV for a decade!) and isn't so clever that it'll replace all that potentially useful metadata from the original tape.

No searches have found such a beast, so I'm guessing that, as yet, it doesn't exist?

I got problem out put it to the tape, my internal drive seems having dropping frame problem.

There are two free ways of doing it . You can try if you have XP win Sp1 . it may not work for newer service packs of windows.

(1) Using Graphedit
(2) using a utility called" capDVHS"
