Hi, I have been spending a few weeks preparing to produce a tutorial package that will be capturing hdv footage from my hv30 amongst many other digital captures from my i sight, desktop, lapelle mic and music output from turntables.
I am having problems with interlacing and need to make a final decision by the end of tomorrow so I can get back on schedule. My hv30 is NTSC and I am currently capturing 1080i to a pc running vegas. My tutorial mac capturing the live desktop and i sight is also my editing platform. I hope to use the very simple editor that comes with the desktop capture but it doesnt have a decent de interlace filter. I have tried various de interlace techniques with vegas and final cut and have found the process to be very time consuming. So I wondered if I could choose a different recording format for my hv30 to record in progressive instead and which would be best to use. Also what pitfalls I may encounter. 30p and all the other options etc... the final playback of these tutorials will be 100% computer based so the interlacing is creating quite a headache. my hv30 shots are all fixed recording my turntables from a birds eye view so will have fast hand movements etc I really hope someone with a lot of experience can easily point me in the right direction, this has been such a steep learning curve and my deadline is looming upon me ![]() |

What frame rate does your desktop capturing app deliver? Maybe you may want to shoot in PF24 and to capture the desktop in 24fps if you want to deliver to say Vimeo, because it still does not support proper playback of 30p HD.

thanks Rumpelgeist
I am trying to find out the framerate for it, its screenflow. I will trial 30p today and drag that footage in and see if it all seems dandy. |

Right, so if anyone is reading this and working on sim circumstances as me using screenflow and hd footage.
30 p seems the ticket on my camera settings and screenflo runs at 30 fps too, then you have the option at export of chopping this down should you wish. There are however some terminal hacks that can be done to reduce the captured frame rate for screenflow(its mac leopard only) Hope its some use to someone in the lifetime of this forum ![]() |

Does the screen capture run at 30fps or 29.97fps? I suppose at 30fps. The camcorder records at 29.97fps, so you will need to slow down screen video or speed up camera video to match the speeds to ensure clean image without fake frames.

damn, well to be honest at this stage i dont have time for any more production process'
Whats the worst case scenario with the added frames per second as screenflow is at a clean 30 fps as far as they've told me? |
