The JVC Everio MG series camera records directly to HDD. It's stored mpeg2 files onto the HDD with an extension of .mod.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a work flow for Final Cut Pro (FCP).
I reticently read that you should keep transcoding to a minimum and get into the format your going to output as soon as possible.

My edits will be going to DVD.

Currently I am using MPEG StreamClip to transcode the files to DV as it currently looks like the best quality to my eye. All other suggestions are welcomed.
