Default Installing Vegas Pro after having Movie Studio installed - problems?

    Elo!

Been using Movie Studio Plat since November and bought the $129 Pro CD from B&H last week.

When it arrives what should I do to upgrade, should I just install over the top into another folder so both programs are on the PC or should I deinstall MSP before putting Pro on?

Either way will I be able to seemlessly use all my old MSP projects without hassle? And lastly how will I move my plug ins across (NeatVideo, freebie plug ins I got with MSP and Cartoonr plus Magic Bullet Looks).

    Thanks folks,

    R.

I have both of them installed without a problem. I have heard of problems when you have vegas 6 and 8, but not two version 8s.

You don't need to move your plugins, they will recognized automatically.

Fantastic, and I can open MSP stuff in Pro with no issues at all then?

They are 99% compatible. Not 100%.

Always best to ask before nuking a load of projects eh

Thankfully Ive finished all my edits for the time being but had a lot of cuts prepared for a compilation Im working on for the end of the year (my big video project).

Might have to go out and shoot some random stuff now to test out Magic Bullet and the capabilities of Pro.

Been meaning to ask Eugenia, are you professionally involved in video or just a very keen hobbist?

I am a software developer and tech journalist. Video is new to me too, but because of my programming background I manage well in the software area of video things (which is why you won't see me talk much about hardware, and almost not at all about art and shooting). So I help in the area that I can.

Ah that explains a lot, especially the concise and well worded blog/guides on your site.

May I add a question here too??

I am in the same boat. I have Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 8 installed and I have Vegas Pro 8 on the way (the $129 deal from B&H)

Will the DVD Architect studio 4.5 that came witht the vegas platinum be recognized by the Pro 8 and have the Ac3 and Mpeg2 render options??

My reason for the upgrade is to have more edit options like mask and custom keyboard ect.....

I guess my actual question is will I have the same availability of render options that I at least have with the platinum version of vegas??
