Default What's the max capacity for SD card?

What's the max capacity for SD card, 2G or 4G?
I am not sure that if HV20 is able to use 4G SD card.
    Anyone knows about this issue.
    Thank you!

Regular SD card is designed to be format in FAT16 which max out at 2GB. There are devices (digital cameras) allow reading the card in FAT32 format. SDHC is a newer standard for SD card that hosts 4GB or more storage capacity.

I doubted if HV20 can read 4GB mini-SD card (Are there any 4GB mini-SD card available yet?) You can try format your mini-SD in FAT32 to see if HV20 can read it. Some digital cameras can read FAT32 formatted SD card but only can use up to 2GB.

If anyone out there tries what Taky said and the card won't work anymore, let us know so we don't do it to.

I was curious about the same thing.

I do believe there are 4 gig mini-SD's available. I might spend some time and go research that.

It won't damage the card. You can always format it back to FAT16 using your PC or the camcorder itself.

Is there an adaptor that allows plugging an SD card into HV-20's Mini SD slot?

You cannot fit a normal SD card into a Mini SD slot.

You can buy an adapter that converts a Mini SD card into a normal SD card.
Some times you get this adapter free with some Mini SD Cards like Sandisc.

Canon manual page 102 "This camcorder has been tested with Mini SD up to 2 GB. Performance cannot be guaranteed for all Mini SD cards".

I have a Sandisc 2 GB Mini SD card which can store a maximum of about 1400
pictures (LW 1920 x 1080 Super Fine quality).
