I just checked B&H... they're down to $769.95, but shipping isn't free. With that ^ encouraging story, I'm thinking of going with 6ave.

Well I'm feeling good about them right now, I just received confirmation of shipment from 6ave.

Is there an online company out of this list that won't call me and ask me to buy more things? Also, every single company on this list seems to have bad feedback from varying "reseller ratings"-style sites (see http://photo.net/neighbor/subcategory-index?id=2), and BBB complaints and so on, although Abe's and 6ave seem to have the most. It disheartened me to find out that even the ones I hear such good things about, the ones I was thinking I'd probably just pay the extra cost for peace of mind for, have so many complaints. And I don't know which reviews to trust world wide on the internet.

What's been going on with you chaps' purchases? I'm curious to read more of your experiences with meijer, 6ave, and so forth in the past couple weeks.

According to the tracking links my HV30 is now in the piedmont and will climb up the mountains and into my loving embrace some time on Monday. [6ave]

I ordered on 6ave on Wednesday and it shipped in 1 day and I got free shipping and great price. No phone calls or anything. Tracking shows it will be here Tuesday (From PA to TX).

Mine arrived from 6ave at 11:10 this AM. The original cannon box was in another without adequate packing around it; but by 2:45PM the battery was charged and I had read enough of the manual to give it a go. Seems OK as far as I can tell BWDIK. Anyway I'm happy as a pig in ginger snap cookies at this point.

Mine arrived today from 6ave too. Same problem with packing but the original packing from Canon seems to be very good.

I also used 6ave. I ordered on a friday night, well after business hours, received it lunchtime the following friday. Voila! They honoured the discount price, so I managed to get my cam for $694. Same situation with packaging, but I think the fact that they use DHL, coupled with the quality of the Canon packaging, mitigates my initial concern.
My one BIG complaint is the 6ave website; it's clunky at best, downright worrying at worst. I used it anyway, but if you use Safari, you may get a warning that it "can't verify the identity" of the site. I eventually used Firefox, with some trepidation. Just a warning. Hopefully 6ave will read this and do something about it, because my experience with them was otherwise entirely satisfactory.

    broadwayphoto.com

    I got my HV30 for $825.00

    DO NOT go to BestPriceCameras.com

I found a Canon HV30 selling for $419.00 Great deal right? Your wrong. Though the deal was nice, I went on an ordered a Platinum Package that they were offering me that ran my total to $719.00. But in that package, it included wide angle lenses, tele. lenses, tripod, hardcase, filters, etc..

Thought it'd be a great deal untill the sales rep on the phone suddenely wanted to add on more features to my purchase which bumped my price from $719.00 to $1,499...The only reason why he was doing that (because he thinks imma stupid idiot) is because he wanted to sell me HDMI cables, Firewire Cables, and Sony Vegas PRO 8. I told the sales rep that all I wanted was what I ordered..but he insisted me on gettin the extra features which really pissed me off so i cancelled my deal with them. So I suggest not getting from them.

Broadwayphoto.com was good place to get it. It's an actual store in Brooklyn that I orderd my HV30 online. Free shipping and got to my crib in like 2 days. I recommend them..

It's not an amazing deal, but the HV30 is on for $899.99 at Best Buy and Future Shop in Canada.

Good call Taky. No offense, Razaele, but just because Broadwayphoto has a mailing address does not mean they have an "actual store". I see now they have the HV30 selling for $703, and while not the lowest price I've seen(B&H NAB $650 special) for an HV30, that kind of price drop from the $825 you paid makes me a little hesitant. If you did in fact have a successful transaction with them, then all the power to you, but it would seem their history with other buyers seems to be less than stellar.

mamamamakk! Now that you mentioned that, i went to read the reviews..and I experienced the same exact thing that these reviewers were saying. On the phone, the sales rep was ready to process my order. And I asked him specficially, "Will $703.00 be what I pay for this product?"..dude was like, "Yeah, 703.00 is what your gonna pay." Then i'd say a few mins later, hes like, alright would you like to upgrade to an American version? And i was like..say what? He was like, Yeah because what your buying is a Japanese upgrade and all your gonna have are japanese stocked cables....I was going to quit the transaction right then an there because I've tried to order my Canon HV30 before and something similar to this happened before. But, it was just one of them days where I was like "mamamama it, whatever" moods..so I was like. yeah I'll go ahead..and price went up from $703 to $825. Well, it doesn't matter now..the camera was still intact and everything was in its proper place. But yeah, I got scammed..mamamama man.

You should have bought the Japanese version (NTSC), which is the same as the N. American version (NTSC) and the cables are the same on ALL versions. This is assuming that they would actually sell it to you....

Yes, but the directions on the screen would be in Japanese, which may be a bit problematic if you're not familiar with navigating the camera.

Language is set in the Function settings. There are 17 languages available, plus many sub-settings.

Ah good find. It's funny but I never noticed the language menu. Reason I thought a "Japanese" HV20 would only display Japanese characters was an instructor this past semester brought in a friend's HV20 for use and he couldn't navigate the camera because it was in Japanese.

I stand corrected(Not the first time, nor will it be the last).

How did you get this price? That is a little more toward my speed. I'd like to get in on this for my fieldwork!!

Sheesh.. When I started looking at this camera a couple weeks ago, places like B&H had it for $770, and I didn't pick it up because I didn't need it for another month, and I figured I'd might as well wait for another $650 deal or something -- and now it's barely in stock in places, and B&H lists it for $1000! Dang. It's amazing, it looks like at this point it's actually cheaper to buy it *locally* (Best Buy, Circuit City, etc -- even with tax!) than mail order, which I don't think I've ever run across before with buying something. I ended up getting mine at Circuit City last night, $780 with tax (6%) using the 8% off AAA coupon. The in-store price was listed at $1000, but when I pointed out the website listed it at $800 they adjusted it without any objection.

Btw, for whoever is updating the first page of this thread, it doesn't look to me like 6ave has it in stock -- their page says "hurry pre-order now", and it certainly doesn't appear to be shipping in 1-3 days -- their "estimate for next-day delivery is June 11".
