Default Overall Exposure Quality in Auto Setting

Have had my HV20 for about a month now and am very unhappy about exposure levels in 'auto'. Everything with highlights in direct sun is completely washed away - many situations result in images which are washed out. I have to switch to "Program" mode and reduce exposure by -4 to -7 to get results that look balanced. Has anybody else expereinced this? Is there a way to get the factory to reset exposure levels for the auto setting? Any advice or insight is appreciated.

Nah - itīs not going to happen. Auto-mode is only for the most uncomplicated settings. Set the display to show zebra stripes, adjust F-stop (or shutter) and do the rest with the exposure lock until there is only few striping left.
