Yet another DIY 10.6" Samsung Monitor
Hi guys, just finished my 10.6" monitor's case. It's features:
- very light
- sturdy
- made of 0.5 mm aluminum sheet
- small plastic buttons on side made out of push-pins
- attachable to any 1/4" tripod's screw
- also can be attached laterally with an M6 screw (eg: to HDV 501 Manfrotto Head)
To anyone interested, I built a small spec with images of the stages of the built.
You can see it here: http://www.fixpix.ro/diy/monitor/
Here's the final result:

Congradulations. I especially liked your inventiveness with the push tacks. You could also choose some different colors for things like power on - off and video source selections.
I'll ask the big question for all the rest. Are you going into production and selling the case? Remember the 10" monitor supply seems to be drying up, so you'll need to design one for the 12" monitor if you plan on selling them.
I bought my case and monitor from Bruce. He was afraid of heat build up so he had a lot of open areas on his case to reduce the heat. That might be one area you might want to mod on your case.
Thanks also for the photo details.

Thank you,
I have searched a lot for a feasible solution for the buttons. The push tacks was the best I could find. I have also thought of colours for the different buttons, but I was too lazy to search for coloured ones.
As regard to get into production, I don't think I could endeavor the building process again. Not that it wasn't fun to built or rewarding to see it work as planned, but IMHO, the "Y" in the DIY stands for getting the best satisfying result in building something of your own. That 'satisfactory' bit might not be compatible with others'.
If the above answer was too philosophical,
the bottom line is that I don't see myself building another case like that. What I can provide instead are more details if needed of the building process, etc.
The heat problem - I have tested the monitor for +40 minutes and it didn't get more than slightly warm-ish. I guess that this is a case where the case (pun intended) is a big radiator, hence it stays cool. Time will tell, anyway, thanks for the heads-up.

Thanks Forwardlooker, I have already posted a reply to that thread but it said it awaits moderation...
I secured the LCD panel using 4 small "L" shaped strips of aluminum sheet as seen here:
http://www.fixpix.ro/diy/monitor/con...754_large.html
You can also see them here, glued to the case on the upper side and on the left and right (at the bottom):

I later slided the panel between them and bent the stripes over the panel.
