Default Video much darker on computer

I just captured my first video with the HV20 and noticed that the captured video is much darker and less saturated that it is on the display of the camera. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

    I'm using Pinnacle Studio 11

But what I don't understand is that other video's en footages on this forum look great but video captured from my camera is just too dark and less saturated. It really looks great on the LCD of the camera.

I checked the videosettings in the Catalyst control panel, but changing these settings doesn't change anything to the video's. Maybe this is a Vista problem still.

Computer screens and TVs are usually configured quite differently, your computer screen is set up (in your case) to show more washed-out, lighter image. It'll look quite different on a TV. This is why you need to use an external calibrated monitor when doing color correction (if you are a pro).

If you play back a video file on a PC it can pass a nearly unlimited amount of filters for decoding and enhancement. When I use the DirectShow interface, I can get three different results on three attempts to watch a file.

You can try to open the with DGDecode, it comes with an internal decoder. You can also use it too feed it to your NLE if it supports frameserving.

if you display video thru directdraw check directdraw's colors
if you use dx9 check dx9's colors
    also check monitor's gamma/brightness/contrast/saturation

the camera's display is just an indication, always.
