    First saw the HV30 page on Sunday morning, 3/09/08...

    Go to link and choose CREATE AN ACCOUNT before you place the order.
    ..check your email/get the coupon code they send you (if not, contact them and ask)
    ..then place order at site for camera/use code..and you will get a 10% discount.

    If you place an order without creating an account..you will not get the 10% discount.

    So, if you create an account first...
    It will be $849.99 x 10% = 85

    850 - 85 = $765 final

    **(Check with Meijer to see if the 10% is ongoing or expired.)

    The FAQ states they have a 90 day return policy ("Free Returns") and "may" charge tax depending where you live.

    Found this forum a few days ago and decided to get a HV20/30 depending on the deal I could get. This seemed like a great deal so I jumped on it. Will let everyone know how the order goes.

    It sounds too good to be true... But I just did. It looks like they are a chain store like RiteAid, Walgreen, CVS. It's $200 cheaper than the price in Amazon. I bumped up over night shipping for $25. Will see if it comes with full US warranty.

    I just called their customer service to cancel the previous order ($15 off only) as I placed a new order with the 10% off. No problem. The lady was very nice.

    I did ask her about if the camera comes with US warranty. She wouldn't be able to tell me anything on that.

    I see that if you get a "Meijer Platinum MasterCard" you'll get 10% off your first purchase .

    I think that's something different than what you're saying right? If so, would that knock it down even 10% more???

    EDIT: I just saw the fine print on the Master Card terms excludes online purchases. So, maybe it might be good for someone who can physically walk into the store in Kentucky, Ohio, etc...

    Do you see "Create an account" on top right under the navigation bar?

    Too bad it only takes 1 coupon code per order. It would be sweet if I can stack the 10% off and the $15 off both. But that's not the case.

    yeh, I saw the create an account link...didn't want to fill it out yet... So, you're saying once you do that you'll get the 10%..

    What do you think about the Master Card 10% too?

    That would be nuts..would be like $619...

    Default Just ordered from out of state--was charged sales tax

    I just ordered @ the $688 price (w/10% off code from setting up an account) as this looks like a great deal from a reputable dealer.

    While I was proceeding through the online check out, I noticed they were charging me sales tax even though I live in Utah, and product is shipping here. I doubt they have sales tax nexus here. I called customer support, and while very friendly, they were unable to tell me why I was being charged sales tax.

    I decided to go forward with the transaction because it is still a great deal, albeit a little less sweet after the sales tax thing.

    On a side note, I found this site yesterday as I have been planning on getting an HV20/30 in the next few months. I saw that I missed the boat on the sweet clearance deal at Sears on the HV20 ($275), but at least this thread saved me from buying from some shady online dealer. I'm looking forward to learning tips, techniques and best practices for the HV30 here as well.

    I've been lurking here since January. I was having trouble deciding between the HV20 and the Sony HC7. Finally decided on the HV20, but missed all the low price deals (even went to all the Sears in the Rochester, NY area...).

    I saw this post, and just ordered the HV30. I went to college in Michigan, so am very familiar with Meijer. Got it out the door for $695.44. This was my x-mas present (only a few months late...).

    Glad I found this site. Lots of great info. Now onto the custom lenses and stuff forum!!

    I might jump on this. The only thing that worries me is returning something shipped from so far away. In California, that Costco deal seemed perfect since their return policy is that you can return anything pretty much that isn't a liquid puddle. But 688 Deal is one sweet deal. I hate my life.

    No worries on returns, Just buy it. I am having one hv30 from amazon - i am going to return for meijer deal. If I dont get 100% money back - my AMEX covers it all!!!

    Just for those who doesn't know. Amex covers an item if the store won't take it back within 90 days (up to $300). If the store charges a restocking fee, amex will covers that too.
