Not sure what you mean ... with the replacement model HV30 now shipping the HV20 is officially discontinued. Some crazy short-term specials notwithstanding, Circuit City and Best Buy have usually had the camera closer to the "manufacturer's suggested retail" than other sources (last time I saw one at BB, it was still $1099).
If you've been paying attention the HV20 turned out to be a fairly popular model, so they probably don't feel an urgent need to "fire sale" their remaining units (as Sears did).
LISTEN UP, EVERYONE: the SEARS thing WAS A FLUKE. If you're waiting to buy one of these things for $300, you're probably going to be buying used. Capisce?![]()
In Arizona, one Sears rep. told me he cleared out a few at $500, but had not heard of anyone selling them for less. CC's price is still $729 and Ultimate Electronics is price matching BB & CC every day. Actually, I believe BB in store price was $799. BB was the only one who had the new HV30.
this time last month, circuit city was playing roller coaster with the price. the hv20 was literally a different price every 2 days. on 2/13, it was $730 and that's when i bought it. a week later on the 20th, there was a 10% coupon attached to the circuitcity.com listing and they honored their own low price guarantee, so in the end i paid $657. it's been $730 ever since
I just got it from Circuit City at the $730 price minus a 10% coupon I found online. With taxes it still came to be $702 (657 pre-tax). They are also offering their no-interest until 2010 if you use their cc so it comes out to like $34/month for those who can't afford the upfront price.
The coupon code is 2DAV625AFZ if anyone else wants to try it. The site I found it on says it expires tomorrow though (3/19).
It really burns me to know that I could have gotten it for the cheapo price of $275 or whatever Sears was clearancing it at but oh well.
I was about to post the same thing. I really want the HV 30 but I bit the bullet and bought this. I hate tax but oh well. It came to 696.38 for me.

Yea it seems a shame that many places have the HV30 for close to the price of the HV 20 but I went for it for the sake of the no interest plan through CC.
Received mine yesterday. Just thought I would let you know.

As long as the hv20 on my CC card is paid down below whatever price they are going for now, I feel justified at buying it at higher price a while back. Although that sears price was nice.![]()
