Here's a comfortable handheld rig for the Letus35 mini setup. Letus35 mini also comes with a rod bracket (not pictured) if you want to add rods, matte boxes and follow focus. The parts I used are Cavision miniDV pistol grip, camcaddie scorpion and a hexagon 1/4"-20 bolt

you should add the rails... i see the adapter is being held by pistol grip, but the grip isn't doing anything for the adapter's weight, since it's just "touching" it in the very border, leaving most of the weight in the front. i really suggest you get something to handle letus's weight from the front, to avoid flection between adapter and camera's rings.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've ordered Cavision rods and they take a while to ship. The weight distribution of the whole rig right now is really centered in the prism element and and battery compartment of the Letus35 mini which is right above the pistol grip. The moments of the nikon lense and the HV20 body more or less even each other out. When dangled by the top handle, the cg runs down the collar of the Letus35. Its really steady when held by the top and bottom handles together.

What kind of lense are you using?

I have the same setup (hv20 with letus mini).
im using a canon EFS 18-55mm lense, but i cant seem to get crisp pictures?? how far is the focus range normally?

would u suggest any nice Canon EF or FD lenses, that are not ridiculously expensive?

I think Canon FD lenses would require a different mount (an FD mount). As for which is better for DOF adapters; hands down the FD lenses. Reason being that the FDs have manual apeture control AND are much cheaper (because they're so much older and don't work with newer DSLRs).

To pull focus on the HV20/30 LCD, you'd almost have to use Focus Assist (push the "stop" button on the LCD -- it digitially zooms in on the frame so you can get images in focus easier, and the push it again to zoom back). In either case, you should be able to get sharp images with a professionally built unit.
