That lil Locking Screw on '1st This one' is gonna put some lovely scratches on your 'lovely new camera'!!
Look carefully at the picture - the screw actually pushes a rubber 'pad' that protects the body of the cam. (I think)
Haha, looks like vegasarian went and bought that 2nd "choice" you asked about!
Correct!
Let us know how it is! Post pictures of it attached and let us know if it blocks the I.AF sensor or light, okay? I'm a cheapskate, so if it doesn't block anything and looks good, I'd possibly buy a similar cheap one from China.
Worley, I would suggest to buy from this seller http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...9836&rd=1&rd=1
he gave me a partial refund ($5usd) for a slight imperfection on the filter ! prompt emails & very generous seller !
1st of all, I can't see any of those links??
@ alef: That same hood is in my ebay Watching list - how well is it working..do you have the black or the silver one?
Also, it says it comes with a UV filter..do you thread it on the actual hood?
Just check out the last few posts of this thread I use one very similar to you first option but it comes with an extra ring that screws on the camera so the thumb screw is set on the ring, not the camera.
I also sandwiched my B&W UV filter in between hood and cam. See real picture in that thread......

Thanks, BarnOwl. I have been following that thread.
I'd rather buy from the UK if possible, but purchasing from the US wouldn'tbother me.
I notice a silver version of that hood is available too. Tempting.
Just be mindful of custom duties if you are not already aware. I have had to order a few items from the USA for the HV20 and the taxes are quite expensive. I ordered the mattlebox and it should arrive on Monday as I have now paid Royal Mail £18 for a $99 item. Unfortunately, if the WD-H43 is not stocked over here i'll have to do the same with that as well and that will be more expensive!
Don't worry. customs won't bother on a 12 dollar item.........

BarnOwl: would you recommend that Fotodiox hood you bought? Has it been holding up well? Any problems at all so far?
Let us know! Thanks!
it's good ! mine is silver, but not the same silver as the hv20, if you look at it less than 1', but more than that, they look the 'same' ! it comes with a sakar uv filter. I first attach it to the hv20 and then the hood. there is also a ring in the back of the hood: you can tighten/loosen the hood position vertical/horizontal/..45° !
Same here with Dutch customs.....It is a lottery here though. I get an average of 1 out of 15 packages that get intercepted. Stil makes it worthwile though.
But I only use out of Europe items if they are pretty cheap. With the bigger items (HV20, RC heli's etc.) I prefer a local reseller because of warranty and service issues.

OK I'm vain, but, does a rectangular hood look better than a square one![]()
The £1.99 Lens hood from Shanghai..... No vignetting but cant screw filters on the front.........
Can you screw filters on to the HV20 and THEN affix the hood?
I would guess so, if your filter had a 43mm thread to receive the hood. Haven't got any filters to try it out tho!.
Check out my videos here: http://www.youtube.com/24Peter
bought this one myself:

I don't care for the aesthetics of a rectangular hoods, this one is round and nicely made from aluminum and, at least with a 43mm UV lens in place between the hood and camera, has no vignetting.

D'oh, they've increased the price of the one I want by £2. Trust me procrastinate.
