    Default Audio-Technica AT875r vs Rode NTG-2

I want to buy an affordable short shotgun microphone for on-camera-use. Have anyone compared Audio-Technica AT875r and Rode NTG-2?

If you have a suggestion to other similar microphones in this price range, tell me!

I know Røde NTG-2 can use AA battery, but can AT875r be powered this way instead of phantom power?

The AT does need phantom power which means you need a Beachtek or Juicedlink oder Signvideo adapter that provides it. But that will set you back at least another $250. So it`s more comparable to the Rode NTG-1. I haven´t seen any reviews yet but somewhere (I think it was dvinfo.net) someone spoke highly of the AT.

heres a link to a video test with the NTG-2. ITs the second video. I don't have any tests on the AT, sorry.

This video might sell you on the NTG-2. Awesome mic. Good luck in choosing.

If you need a beachtek you'll have to get the DXA-6

Oh one other thing the BeachTek DXA-2S best fits the HV20. But the DXA-6 has phantom power, which you need with the AT.
