    Default Some "guidelines" for posting...

    Some simple rules:

    1) An opinionated post can be left without contestation
Sometimes opinions will be voiced that might be contrary to one's own. Arguments normally happen when no one backs down.
There's plenty examples of online forums where opinionated persons go back and forth, viciously, and no one can seem to back down.
It becomes very frustrating and is not very productive. Respect everyone's opinion; this is just a little internet forum, and not that important.
We expect courteous behavior here, yes, even in THE PUB now also.

    2) Do NOT double post the same thing
Just because it's tempting to post the same thing in several categories ---> DON'T!!!
It won't get you an answer faster, and it's extremely annoying!

    3) Please report back with news if a problem got resolved
This would be VERY helpful to the HV20 community, so please take the time to report back:
    if you ask a question about a problem you're having, and you end up resolving it;
then PLEASE report back on how you resolved it. This would help the whole
community, and would be the gracious thing to do...

    4) No SPAM
SPAMMERS will be banned and their posts deleted.

    5) No personal attacks
NO PERSONAL ATTACKS! We won't tolerate personal attacks any longer.
Don't call someone an imbecile, douchebag, arsehole, mother f'er, $hithead, or any variation of those.
Don't make direct references to some other person on here, by saying "XXX is blind", "XXX doesn't know what they he/she talking about",
"XXX is a liar.", or any variation of those.
    NO PERSONAL ATTACKS!

    6) No link-only posts!
This new rule implemented 19 May 2011: NO POSTING OF LINKS without more information. It had to come to this!
We no longer will tolerate the posting of links without "some" background information as to what the link is redirecting to.
Simply add a few short lines of additional information what it is, we are about to see and/or hear
    .
    NO MORE LINK-ONLY REDIRECTS!

    7) Enjoy yourself

Default 4 simple rules for HV20.com

    1. Read the FAQ.
    2. Always do a search first.
    3. When possible, post to an existing related thread instead of starting a new one.
    4. Post to the proper subforum.

It really is that simple if you want to avoid my wrath.
To all Newbies: Have you read this FAQ before posting? Or watched this short video?
If you haven't, then don't complain when I close or move your thread.

I'm sorry that I have to post this here, I don't know where else to complain.
I started a new thread about direct sunlight & HV20. I did a search before I opened it and nothing I found was helpful. It seems that the thread is gone now. I guess that someone thought it was a much discussed topic already. But I didn't get an explanation so I can't know for sure.

rakunus, I searched on all the thread you created. I can view all deleted threads but I didn't find one that matches what you said about hv20 and direct sunlight. Usually we just give you the usual crap about the topic being discussed and may close the thread. We don't just delete it without notice.

Feel free to post the topic again.

    That's what I thought!
There's always a guy who tells you what you did wrong by opening the topic
Thanks, you may delete my two replies here, if you want.

IIRC it was deleted as it was deemed SPAM by our "SPAM-Detecto-matic-3000".

SPAM deletion is not preceded by a warning.

    Good thing. Nice move Mal.
I agree it's insulting to throw a link of a video like that...just like "Hey...(slap to the face)...just watch my video".
At least, post what were the motivations why you shot the video. You could also post what you've used to shoot it (description of the gear).
    My 2 cents.

I'll keep that in mind for the next time I do something apart from the contests.

I agree that link only posts as thread openers are poor form, although ok mid thread, in most cases. But I don't understand the hostility about this in the footage forum. I find it quite acceptable to have just a title and let the video speak for itself. In fact I dislike long preambles, I'd rather just watch the video.

Rules are rules and I will comply, that's just my opinion. I thought closing Batmotor's thread was a little heavy handed.

As Mal said, and considering batmotor didn't get it the first time...I don't think it's been "too much".

Well I guess the things that get on our nerves is part of what makes us individual and, I guess, human. Interesting that Mal's solution to what was pissing him off just happens to push one of my annoyance buttons I guess the world would be a boring place if everyone had the same outlook.
