    Default Color Correction

I've seen people post some threads about trying to emulate a look, recently, the Fight Club look and I've seen various others. My question is, regarding color correction, can anyone help me out with tips in getting the look from Superbad. Everything felt sort of "earth tony" with like maybe a very, very, light green highlight.

seriously the only way is to apply your color correction filter of choice and play around with it as much as you can. calibrate your monitor and learn to trust your eyes. i use a combination of colorista and magic bullet looks. looks builder from the latter is free, try it. it won't let you apply the look to your clips but you can practice color correction and save presets.

as for the look you mention, i'd probably push the highlights towards cyan, the midtones towards yellow, and the shadows towards magenta. try it.

Oh and by the way, are there any advantages these programs have, "Colorista" and "Magic Bullet" over Sony Vegas' color correction?

vegas seems to have some great tools. colorista (also a magic bullet tool btw) is pretty basic when it comes to what you can do, but the results it produces are spectacular, better than any 3-way color corrector i've ever used, both smoother and crisper. it lacks curves, but i do that in looks, and secondary correction which i rarely use but if i do fcp's built in works ok.

I find the Sony Vegas color curves and the color corrector to be very useful and well designed tools which should help you to get basically any look you want.
