Default Rode VideoMic Offered by JacksMusicFactory.com

Jack Lutz from JacksMusicFactory offers special price for the Rode VideoMic and Stereo VideoMic. There're some other interesting items too.

    R0DE VideoMic

    R0DE Stereo VideoMic

Hosa Boompole to be used with VideoMic

Hosa Y-cable audio splitter (so you can connect two audio sources to HV20's external mic jack)

Check with him the price for the dead kitten. He offers free shipping to continental US. Make sure you find out the return policy. If you have any question, you can also email Jack at Jack.Lutz@jacksmusicfactory.com.

*** According to Jack, they can only ship within United States. If you want to have it shipped outside United States, contact me for arrangement.

Does anyone have a rating on Jacks?
Please send me a PM or reply before I buy, because they have some great prices.

Not much of a credibility but I bought my VideoMic and Stereo VideoMic from Jack. The price was good and he's reliable.

    Thanks for the link

This is a simple/dumb question but what is the difference between the VideoMic and the Stereo VideoMic? What are the pros and cons of each?

    thanks

There are no dumb questions but only dumb people

    hehe

VideoMic is a shotgun mic which picks up sound from one direction. It's mono but duplicate the same sound on both left and right channel.

Stereo VideoMic is not a shotgun mic which is good to use in general. I also notice the SVM has a higher fidelity than the VM. And of course, it's stereo.

Netrate - I purchased 3 general purpose microphones from Jack this week. He is very honest, reliable and easy to deal with.

Gee, I was at the site and I can't find anything about "return" policy ... or anything dealing with that subject.

Taky, is that a special price for members of hv20.com, or just a good price, generally?

nobody finds that not having any type of "return" policy at site, at ALL , strange!
Even ebay, or any regular music store mars,/sam ash, or electronics place, has posted some return policy.
7 days, 30 days, .... something. I'm just surprised NOBODY IS CONCERNED WITH IT. Sounds like he can make it anything he wants.
I like to see some kind of stated policy ... like "no returns" "all sales final", 15 percent restocking fee, ... SOMETHING. No page whatsoever on any store POLICY at all! NONE!

Why would they make this thread a sticky?

The problem is ... we don't know how "jack" handles "problems" ... the only people that wrote, got the item, and it worked, but, "say, it didn't work" ... what happens, and why is it not posted on website?

I just "trusted" this site because "mod" put it as sticky, but, figured a "heads-up" is in ORDER , at least the alpha electronic store has STATED return policy... 7 days. That should have a sticky if you are gonna sticky a "store" , and not one that doesn't have a "return policy" . Stuff happens, and lets sort it out , before "stuff happens"!

You have a legit concern. Then I say why not message Jack at the e-mail address posted on this thread and see how he responds to your query. This could be the first step to see how responsive Jack really is and we could glean an insight into what to expect should one need to address matters with Jack.

Go for it and report to us...

I think there are lots of word-of-mouth recommendations here. I haven't been around all that long, but I've found Taky to be pretty knowledgeable. I'm not suggesting you take his word as holy writ, but a recommendation from him counts as something, I think.

It's a legit concern. I got this information from Jack regarding return policy.

    -------------------------
The return policy is outlined on the last page of checkout. If the item has a manufacturers defect, Rode will repair or replace it. The whole key to selling at a distance is to only sell new products just as they come from the manufacturer. A returned item is considered used...restocking fees make up for the difference between new and used. The amount of credit given to a return is handled on a case by case basis with the same requirements as any online merchant.
    ---------------------------

After all, it is a recommendation. Nobody (especially rgtaa) has to buy from Jack. If you are not comfortable, DON'T BUY IT. I posted the link here as I found Jack is reliable and the price is good. I am hoping to help other HV20.com members here to get the RODE mics in good price. I also have the owner of this site (MAL) approved to post this link.

Again, just like any other online vendors, if you don't feel comfortable buying from them, THEN BUY SOMEWHERE ELSE. Nobody's forcing you.

    Regarding using Rode for repairs...

I've used Rode for repair of one of my studio microphones. And I've never dealt with an easier more accomodating company than Rode. Heck, they didn't even bother me for much information accept the serial number for their records and they told me where to ship it. I don't think I even registered it when I got it new. The next week my mic was back working good as new.

So I wouldn't worry about return policies so much with Rode Mics. It's always nice to HAVE a return policy from a seller, but at least you know if you have trouble immediately (or even down the road) it's good to have a company like that to take care of things.

Rode and Jack's have worked together for a long time. They are physically very close to each other. I have talked to Rode when Jack's was out of stock and they knew him well. So while I can't say anything Jack's return policy but if there is an issue, I am sure it would work out. Someone should call and just find the answer to this question.

I'm reopening this thread as I believe it benefits more members interested in getting the Rode VideoMic's product at good price. I just checked Amazon and B&H, The Stereo VideoMic is selling at $249. Jack's price is a lot lower.

I queries about the stereo mic shipping to Canada and was quoted at a very reasonable price with reasonable shipping. However, I decided on the mono in the end for doc work and they said they couldn't ship it to Canada at all. Seems kind of odd...

I'm still waiting for it locally, but I'm begining to think it will never come.

I ordered the SVM last Sunday from Jack's. It came today (wednesday). He payed for shipping and all. I can't believe how good the deal was... I feel a bit guilty actually, especially being how exceptionally good this mic is. There was a surprise in the package. Made me smile.

Taky, thanks for posting this. It was really helpful to find a great price on such a variety of equipment!
