    Default Burn, Baby, Burn

Just dinking around with low-light situations:

Decided to give iMovie 08 a shot, made this in about a minute...effects are great, it's updated instantly! I tweaked the colors quickly and turned myself into more of a silhouette, which was pretty cool. When you need to throw a quick clip together, iMovie 08 does the job pretty well. What, I'm not putting off learning Final Cut or anything...

And yes, a fluid-head tripod is next on my wishlist

The HV20 did a nice job. Shot in manual or auto mode ?

How come you were putting charcoal onto a grass grill ?

It's neither a grass nor a gas grill, just a plain old charcoal one I learned how to grill last summer and prefer the taste of charcoal-grilled food over gas by a long shot. A little bit more work to set it up but the results come out much better.

The only thing in manual mode on the HV20 was the focus. I should have locked the rest because you can see the exposure changing when it gets bright from the glowing coals and flames. I'm still getting a handle on the camera and MAN I need to get a fluid tripod, hehe.

I guess I should check my posts before posting.

LOL, a GRASS grill.... what was I thinking ?

Thanks for the info by the way.

I got confused because I saw a dial in the middle of the grill, so thought
    it was a *gas* model.

I do a lot of BBQ, and use charcoal on my gas grill, but I use a pan under the charchoal, so that it doesn't go into the lower part of the grill.

You use the gas to heat up and ignite the charcoal, then turn the gas off, and bingo, you have a charcoal grill !

Many bbq stores sell a special "tray" for this sort of thing, but an old cookie tray works just as well and will save you $40.

The video was awesome, the glow was delightful !

Haha no sweat. My particular model is a cheapo that actually turned out to be quite useful...it has an ash can in the center bottom that you can funnel all of the ashes to, then two grates. The lower grate, for the charcoal, is height-controlled by the big dial. That way if you want to make food crispy you can bring it up higher, or lower if you want to slow-cook food, that sort of thing. Then just slap the top grate on and pre-heat for a few minutes and voila Right now I use a couple charcoal chimneys, but I want to try this method this week:

ah ! so that is what the dial is for ! ... very interesting. I've never seen this on any other BBQ. No Webers I've seen have this interesting feature.

    Very nice indeed !

The hair dryer is cool. !

If you ever want to get even more action, try a leaf blower !

Electric ones work great, and if you have a huge bonfire in the summer for a party, get a gas powered leaf blower - I've seen video, and it's very impressive !
