Default HV2O in Pal mode questions

    Hi, everybody
I am newbie in this forum, writing from Canary Islands, Spain.
I have just purchased a Canon HV20 Pal. I have seen for the first time the HDV *.m2t files in my TFT monitor and looks great, but I have no high definition TV at home by the moment, and of course, I canīt appreciate this quality. Anyway, would it be better to record directly in DV 4:3 mode and no recompresion later?, or record in HDV and then recompress in Vegas 7 to 720x576 Pal mode?. Ussing or without ussing the HDV feature, wich would be the best way to record for a standard DVDs?
    Thank you very much.

I hope you got the answer by now from other threads. In case you have not, in the ntsc land is has been shown that recording HDV and then downgrading to SD in computer after editing gives you the best video.
I think the same should be true for PAL land too.

Yep.....ALWAYS shoot everything in the highest quality possible (Shooting in SD will NOT save tape), after all, these will be your master tapes for a long time.
Also always CAPTURE in best quality.

Then you can downconvert to your desired SD format in your editing/authoring app., the quality you're viewing will always be the best possible........
