HV20 Noob. Please help me...
Hello I just go the HV20, and now I 'm stuck in a rut. I have done so many searches but im kinda confused on a couple of things. First I really want to get a UV filter to protect the lens. I know I need a 43mm size. I just need some good recommendations. Also I want to get a mic, I have a tri pod, I have an extra battery, and I have alot of tapes. I just want to make shorts and some really cool shots of the kids and family. Please if anyone can help me out with the basics. I want to thank you in advance. This is the best site if you own or looking to get the HV20.. THIS SITE ROCKS.......

Hi Wurdz921, welcome to the forum!
The first place to look for answers to these sorts of commonly-asked questions is the FAQ. Also, anytime you see a thread that's been made a "sticky" so it comes up at the top of the page, those are also recommended reading.
Indeed, you want a 43mm UV filter. Any 43mm UV filter will do. Multi-coated types are supposed to be less susceptible to lens flares, but I've never been able to see a difference between one brand and another so I just buy cheap ones, that way it hurts less to replace it if it gets scratched.
I'd recommend getting at least one more spare battery and an external charger. A mini-DV head-cleaning cassette would be good to have also.
For your first mic, I'd recommend the mono RODE VideoMic -- get the "Dead Cat" wind muff for it too; it really cuts down on wind noise when shooting outdoors.

Thank you so much. After I posted this I found a thread about all the stuff I needed. But once again thank you for taking the time to reply...
