Default Got it for $611 from warehousedeals.com (Amazon subsidiary)

Was price hunting for awhile and came across the HV20 at warehousedeals.com, which apparently is the "outlet" for Amazon. Description said it was a refurbished, open box unit ("Open box unit. Minor damage to outer box. Package resealed."). I called Amazon and they said it was likely just an open box and not a refurbish.

I received the camera yesterday via UPS second day air (got free super saver shipping to Hawaii!) and so far everything looks great. All cables and manuals are untouched and sealed. The camera appears to be unused but I can't confirm that. I haven't actually tested it out yet because I don't have any minidv tapes. But I did power it up and so far so good.

Since I orderd through Amazon, I still get the 30 return policy should anything go wrong. Also the original warranty card is enclosed. I do not think this camera was actually refurbished but rather just opened and returned.

Knock on wood, I may have gotten lucky with this price. I hope others can find the same deals. Warehousedeals.com is pretty cool!

Amazon was selling the cam as low as $649 during Xmas holidays. Why would you buy an open box just for $30 less? You could have bid on eBay for much less.. Anyway, its your choice!

Because it's not Xmas anymore nor is it currently available at that price at Amazon (I would have gotten it if it was).

I checked eBay -- you can't get it at that price either. Most eBayers are selling the HV20 bundled with a bunch of extra stuff for $800-900. Add the shipping from eBay and it's at least $20 more, too.

But yes, I agree -- it is an open box and I took my chances. To each his (or her) own. Aloha.
