First time poster, long time reader. I have had my HV20 since 2007 and was running it without any accessories, but after our last overseas trip was frustrated about wind noise and lack of being able to fit everything in the shot indoors, so decided to splash out on a WA and mic. Being in Australia, everything seems so much more expensive, so I ended up ordering from Adorama a HD6600Pro 55mm ($109), step up ring ($7), DM-50 mic ($137) and dead cat ($46) all for just slightly more (including delivery) than I would have paid for the DM-50 over here. Odered online (with UPS worldwide shipping), and received the order 3 days later. Fantastic Service! Everything was well packed and protected, so no worries about damage.

Doesn't Røde sit in Australia? No way to get a videomic cheaper there than from overseas? That DM50 is nothing to write home about.
Me dead cat cost about 2 bucks and 15 minutes of sewing...

Since you will be travelling very soon, a Canon SC-2000 Soft Carrying Case will be perfect for any of your trips. It has features secure compartments for filters and extra battery packs. Or you can get a KATA DC-439 Camera Case which had a customizable main compartment with Modular Padded Divider System.
