Default Anyone Successfully Exported 24p BACK to HV20?

[Note: I know the below references a Mac and Compressor but am posting in the Windows forum as I have VMWare Fusion and can run a Windows-based process if necessary.]

I'm wondering if anyone on this forum has successfully exported 24p BACK to the HV20?

Using Apple's Compressor, I've created a .m2t file using 24p source footage. I then try to export back to the HV20 using DVHSCap 1.3's "Export to D-VHS" function to no avail. After correctly setting the "Rec Pause" by choosing "Execute" via the function menu, I click "Export to D-VHS" on DVHSCap, choose my .m2t file, my HV20 momentarily spins up after some signal is clearly being sent over FireWire and then it says "Input Signal Not Supported" and then stops cold.

Anyone have a method that works?

First of all, only one post was required. We read most of the sub-forums.

If you have removed pulldown to your PF24 footage, then it's not a good idea trying to get it back to the tape, because the HDV standard does not support 24p. It will add pulldown back to the tape, and it will possibly mess up the whole thing.

If you did not remove pulldown, then use FCP or iMovie or FCE to put the footage back to tape. Don't use DVHSCap for that.

"First," thanks. I don't think I can avoid buying a PS3 for the playback quality I want on my DLP, then. My AppleTV at 6400 kbps isn't doing it for me.

"Second", I disagree on not doing both posts. I have to comment that while I think you're very knowledgeable, Eugenia, and I learn much from your posts, you're also one of the crankiest, dictatorial posters I've come across in a forum. Your tone generally sucks most of the time.

You may read both forums but I sure as heck don't and don't think you're in a position to make a blanket statement like that. It's clear you enjoy your self-appointed role as the "board scold" but damn is it grating. You seem like you could benefit from some passive aggressiveness control classes.

    >Your tone generally sucks most of the time.

That's true. That's just me and it's nothing personal towards you. I've always been like that, and yes, there is a reason why I am cranky (long story).

    >don't think you're in a position to make a blanket statement like that.

Actually, I am. I am on this forum to help others, and this shows from my 820+ comments, compared to your just 8 comments. If you are going to ask a question, better do it in a way that doesn't eat away my time, because I am here to help, not waste time on duplicates. Wasting database space and bandwidth won't get your problem solved.

And may I say, YOUR post was WAY more aggressive than mine. I just pointed out that you needed not the duplicate post, remarked that in a single sentence and then replied to your post. You replied on my remark with TWO PARAGRAPHS. Obviously it hit a nerve. Who needs the passive aggressiveness control classes now?

So, please get back on topic. Why don't you use a video editor to put back the footage on the HV20 and trying to use DVHSCap?

That's fine, you may disagree; but it is CLEARLY one of the things we don't like on this forum, and it was ONE of only
THREE rules we mentioned in the 'Welcome Message' sent to every new member of this forum:

    > 2) Do NOT double post the same thing.
    > Just because it's tempting to post the same thing in several categories ---> DON'T!!!
    > It won't get you an answer faster, and it's extremely annoying!

It is because of this rule, I now deleted the second post...

If Eugenia really wants that title, I'll be glad to oblige and modify her current one. You hear Eugenia, let me know, and I'll make it whatever you want...

In the meantime though, it would probably be more prudent to thank members who offer their help...

    Default ...Get Along

It escapes me at this very moment, but what great American once asked..."Can we all just get along?"

I do not intend to offend anyone here but should it ever occur, then please send me a PM rather than a public post. Cause we can all get along...

I think this is one of the friendliest forums around, it's that more than anything else that keeps me coming back. (And for the record, Eugenia's only scolded me when I deserved it!)

Lol...I know this is off topic, but I had to comment that the person you referred to lived within a stones throw of my house for a year or two after the above mentioned comment. We saw him around occasionally.

Oh, and thanks Eugenia, Mal, Taky, Erik, and many others who have helped me at the expense of their own time. As I learn, I try to share this knowledge with others as well.

And welcome to the forum dfwblah.
