    Default Best price in UK?

I can’t wait to get my hands on a HV20! Best price I could find for a PAL version (including shipping) is £670 at http://televisionmall.co.uk/ or £690 (2 year guarantee + table tripod) at www.bestcameras.co.uk on the 5th June 2007. Anyone found better?

I would not mind buying elsewhere in Europe, but I did not found any cheaper.

Please reply quickly, I can hardly contain myself!

Twice as good at half the price!! Go for it and BE HAPPY in your filming.
I paid £699 for mine - but it was worth it!!

Well, Television Mall claims to have it in stock. Email for confirmation, and they will tell you it is stock. They will also claim to deliver the item within 72 hours.

The reality is that it is NOT in stock, so it will not be delivered in 72 hours.

I ordered last Tuesday (have emailed for confirmation that it was in stock.) My money was taken, but I was told delivery wouldn't be until this Thursday. This morning I received an email telling me delivery would now be delayed until 13th June.

So for an "in-stock item", they're delaying for two weeks.

Also, although they have taken my money, they claim that no contract exists until they email an invoice to me. Yet, it I cancel the order, they want to charge up to 15% re-stocking fee!

Save yourself the hassle and get one from Amazon.

Can I confirm that you have the Canon HV20 camcorder in stock, and that it carries a 2 year warranty?

    Many thanks,

Well, I've decided to buy. But, even though I know I should probably buy a PAL one from somewhere in England, the premium in price is too great! I can get one from either the USA or Japan for £450 delivered. Considering the cheapest price in britain in £700, I can live with a couple of Japanese buttons and having to deal with 24p pulldown. I'll let you know how it pans out...

    Are you sure?
"£450 delivered". Does that include import tax?
You might get hammered here by the Taxman and still end up with an NTSC camera that causes you all the hassle of pulldown for years. I read somewhere here that someone in the UK got a bill from UPS for £40 ( I think) ..Import Duty on a £100 (I think) purchase. Multiply that up to tax on a £450 purchase and your now getting very close to Amazons UK price...AND..no pulldown issues ( apologies to NTSC Land) or " Japanese Buttons".

The seller cannot guarantee no import duty. If customs suspect something is awry, they will open the package and ask questions.

You are correct Worley. It all depends on customs. But when they see a gift wrapped item with a birthday card saying "happy 25th birthday, hope to see you soon, love Uncle Steve" it might convince them it's a gift.

That depends on how many similar boxes arrive at the same time

Try and do an ebay search for Cyber Japan. All in, mine came to £434 delivered (plus any tax's that MAY get added). It should have been £424 delivered but the crappy paypal exchange rate robbed me a bit.

Welcome, Jontif, and congratulations on the purchase. Oh, and for the wedding I'm sure you'll find your spouse and camera meet your expectations in equal measure.

Please post some honeymoon footage when you have the time.

I am the other person who has had this experience with worley and what a journey weve had!

I cant say that I reccomend television mall because there customer service is unbeleiveably crap! The emails I got (when they decided to reply) had no sign of customer appreciation just blunt and not neceseraly answering my question.

I think they are a legit company but they didnt wont to answer some of my really simple questions like, why does this camcorder take 10 days to deliver if it is in stock?

No doubt they will get alot of business beacause they have cheap prices but again if you have crap customer service eventually it wil catch up on the business.

My delivery took 14 days, and I had to get snotty about it. Still haven't received an invoice and no 2 year warranty (though I'm seeking clarification about that).

    Yeah, very poor customer service.

Still, we got our cams now, so ForwardLooker & Worley can start shooting (and hope there are no problems necessitating their return )

I just got back from Italy to find a lovely new HV20 waiting for me. All in it cost me £434 from Japan, so I saved £250+ over the uk PAL version. That was too much of a discrepancy for me. No customs/tax etc thanks to the guys at cyber japan.

Excellent. I'm glad they managed to slip it through customs for you.

Can't say I'm not jealous at your saving. I am. Very.

Now, get shooting with it, and post some footage for us all to see!
