These two packages are about the same cost, I've been using Studio for doing Analog 8 editing (I have analog capture card) to DV editing for a few years now (starting with version 8). I currently have 10.6 (10.7 won't work). I now have the HV20 and sure enough Studio 11 is out. It seems like every time I open Studio and want to do something it's asking for more $$$ (plugins, updates, etc). It's really starting to dollar me to death and I'm not getting out of it what I want. Currently I can't figure out how to export good looking HD 24p edited footage. I can capture it, edit it and export it as standard DV format but not HDV (I get export errors on just about all HD formats). I did get one format to work but it plays like it's in slow motion. So I think it's time to jump ship. It appears lots of people are talking about this Vegas Studio. For anyone that's gone from Pinnacle to Vegas can you give a run down on the features you like/dislike from one or the other?
Here's what I currently like in Pinnacle,
- Ability to Edit the time line on one screen and preview the video on another
- Ability to Capture->Edit->Write final product all in one app
- Ability to created DVD menu's, sub menu's, etc
- Ease of time-line editing, adding 'crops', drag/drop transitions
- East of adding Titles/Picture In Picture (which I had to buy)/Photos
Will I retain all of this in Vegas? Also it appears a few individuals are working on an automated work flow for Vegas for getting proper 24p video in it for editing from the HV20, is this true? Does it work reliability?
Thanks!
Chad
