Default Game #443 - Meet John Doe

    Game version 1

    One picture from one movie:

    Rule 1:
NO IMAGE HOSTING ON EXTERNAL SERVERS.
Images for the games need to be ATTACHED to the post, and thus uploaded to our server.

    Rule 2:
TWO GUESSES PER PERSON PER POSTED PICTURE!!! Those two guesses are not allowed to be in the same post, NOR in a consecutive post. I.e. you can post one guess, then have to wait for someone else to guess: your second guess is not allowed to be immediately following your first guess.

    Rule 3:
The WINNER of the game can start a new game IN A NEW THREAD.
NO ONE ELSE (unless yielded so by the winner).

    Rule 4:
Once there's a winner, PLEASE post the correct name into the thread (spelled correctly, and capitalized correctly, and not in italics or bold face.)

    Rule 5:
The correct title format is: "Game" / space / "#" / number.
    Example: " Game #12" (without the ")
(no space between the # sign and the number!)

    Rule 6:
The film selected should be one that has had an international, theatrical release.
I.e. a made-for-TV movie only shown in the USA would hardly be a fair entry, as
    we have international players also.

    Rule 7:
These complete rules (1 to 7) have to be copy & pasted into each new game's first post.

Because of the recent vacuum here, I'm posting the next game...

BTW, just for fun, check out what Google's image search suggests:

    No cats on the Boulevard...

Try this one, but make sure you don't drown in Google's suggestions:

    Nope, no monsters here...

Clue: The director, the main players, as well as the composer are all top Hollywood names.

So, these grabs were taken by photographing your 8mm copy screened on a sheet in your living room, Mister J?

No, they're grabbed from YouTube, hence the mediocre quality.

In that vein, here's a clue that should narrow your choices down quite a bit: It's legal to post this movie on YouTube, since the copyright has expired (because it wasn't renewed in time...)

New grab coming up in a few hours.

Looks like a bunch of stage-door Johnnies.....

This has to be a musical.

I'd guess "For Me and My Gal", except that I don't think it's public domain.

    ...still ringing.....

There's a gal in this flick, for sure, but not that one.

Clue: She, the director and the composer were all born in different countries. Together, they've collected 11 Oscars!

I'm not commenting on that, at least yet... Next grab in 8 hours or so.

Which one of the 12 "The Stranger"-named movies are you referring to?

In any case, it isn't anyone of them...

Goodnight for now, here's a new grab, and a clue to ponder:

The director made many films that are in the public domain - some of them as soon as they had premiered !

Addendum to the above clue: on at least one list by one listing organization...

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, remember. I'm sure some people here on hv.20.com wouldn't rank it that high...

I'm gonna take a stab in the dark, just for the heck of it.

Doesn't fit all the clues, and I'm 99% sure some of the grabs couldn't have come from it, but I'll say "It's a Wonderful Life".

(And you'll say, No it's not because you didn't win the game...)

Actually not on that AFI list...

    You said that...

But yes it couldn't, so no, it isn't !

But there is a connection! Now just figure it out; this grab will also help a lot - or maybe give it away completely:
