Encoding HDV footage through Adobe Media Encoder -- get rid of wavy lines?

I captured my footage in standard HDV (not 24p). So I think that means it's in 60i.

I encoded the footage with Upper Field Order. When I play the footage back on my monitor, I don't see any wavy lines when the camera does a hard-pan. On the upstairs computer, however, whenever the camera hard-pans, I see wavy lines through-out the picture.

How do I properly encode this footage with AME? Do I need to deinterlace my footage? Which field order do I use?


ALSO, my source footage is 1440 x 1080h. But because it's a 1080i camera, shouldn't the footage be in 1920 x 1080?

Why are there wavy lines on one monitor, but not the other? I am using VLC to play back the encoded footage on both computers.

On the upstairs computer, there are wavy lines in VLC but not in another playback software.

Can you describe the "wavy lines" a bit better? Might they be interlace artifacts, especially visible if the video is in another size (pixel width) on the other monitor...

That sounds like it could be the CMOS artifact of rolling-shutter? If so, there are plug-ins (Mercalli) that you can use to eliminate or help reduce it. In the future, try to avoid panning--or get a CCD camera.

Well I know that I probably went to a school in a different country than you but a question mark typically indicates some amount of uncertainty. Second, the OP notwithstanding, sometime people don't always describe things exactly as they are. Third, some monitors display a lot better than others. In addition, I have a program that can auto correct for a variety of display errors. Would you like to know the program?

One more thing, in American schools and businesses, we use a technique called brainstorming. You probable already know of it since you appear to have a keen understanding of the English language. In that since, it's not necessary have totally solved a problem before it is presented. The point is to get the idea out and consider or deny it through group think. It is a time tested method that has a history of success. When you read responses like the one above, you'll know this is the system that I am using.

I have at least a half a dozen published works with spelling and grammatical errors in them. Does that mean all the information contained within them is wrong? Yes, I do. And doing that, I have learned that a smiley (e.g. a " ") in a post usually means something like a good-natured nudge, a gentle poke, a wink of the eye, etc. - not to be taken too seriously. But it looks like you take such comments way too seriously...
