Clog in Artisan 50 printer

just wondering if this has ever happened to anyone using the Epson Artisan 50 printer. One of the colors, I believe black, has a clog in it or something. When I print a calibration print, or whatever it is, I see that the black isn't printing at all. I tried using the clean nozzel head option, and still nothing. I purchased a "clog printer head" liquid and syringe but still has nothing. What other option is left?

I don't know how much different the print heads are between an Artisan 50 and an R220, but I hope it gives you something to consider.

Inkjet clog is the reason I bought a low-cost color laser printer, the Samsung CLP-315.

Carefree, I can leave it for weeks and be sure there are no clogs. Considering the price of ink cartridges and print heads (especially in case of a clog), the 4-pc. set of toner cassettes is competitively priced...

Unfortunately not, that I know of. And, to be honest, the DVD adhesive labels I've occasionally used seem to cause more disk read errors than I'm willing to accept.

One possibility might be to use transfer sheets (like when you print for T-shirts), but I don't know how a DVD would react to the heat of transferring...

Indeed, ink-jet appears to be the only real solution for DVD & CD printing.

There are thermo transfer printers for optical media, but they are expensive like hell.

Clogging seems to be an Epson feature. I'm on my fourth Epson now. Three of them had the same issue (my Artisan 50 holds strong still). A computer repair service could save one them. They ran an overnight cleaning on it. The other two were toast.

If only it was possible for all those photo printing places to offer a "Disc printing" service

It seems slower than snails (I get decent tonal density by burning the label on each disc twice), but I've switched over to LightScribe for disc labels. I've been using HP "all-in-one" inkjet printers but they seem to have entirely dropped CD/DVD printing from their line. I keep a LightScribe capable internal optical drive in the computer and I have an external USB LightScribe drive on hand as a backup.

LG, LiteOn, and Memorex appear to still make external dvd burners that are LightScribe capable. This site appears to have Mac versions of the software for download.

The 2nd gen Core i7 2600 based HP computer I ordered a few months back came with an optical drive that is LightScribe capable but that fact was kind of "buried" in the specs, it wasn't prominent. And there was no software so I had to go to the site linked above to get what I use.

That's all the info I could find.
