Default magiclantern t3i heatup even when it is turned off

Hi guys, I need ur help. I installed ML to my canon T3i yesterday and it was successful. I used it for a while just to see those those features. After that I turned off the camera. Tonight I checked it and it was using up the battery. The red light was flashing all the time even when turned off. When I touched it tonight it was warm cuz the light was flashing since I instaled ML. If I take off that sd card and use another the red light stop flashing. To make sure I took of the battery too.

    why is this happening?

Wow. Freaky, bad and you're probably better off on an ML forum. But. This can happen if you don't have the right firmware. It also can happen if you remove the SD card while the LED is flashing. You might also have a corrupt version of ML. In all cases the Canon firmware tries to keep loading ML even though it can't and even if the camera is off. Fix is load up a non ML card and make sure the firmware is right, deep format your card in camera then reload ML from your computer. I'm not sure what you can leave off the combined version of ML - there's obviously files for other models which it probably shouldn't need, but they don't take up much space and you can then use the card with the other models so I just load them all, and maybe you do need them.

Regardless of why it is happening, you can lose your camera if it continues. Unauthorized firmware can behave unpredictably and I've followed four cases where it seems like T2i's suffered severe heat damage in the battery compartment from something like this.

All four cameras had to go back to Canon.

If you have more than one Canon DSLR and you feel the features of ML are worth the risk of whatever is going on with yours then I'd keep one with original Canon firmware so you have something to fall back on. Otherwise if you only have one T3i, I'd clean ML off completely. The camera is fantastic as it leaves the factory.

I've switched to Panasonic GH2's where the modified firmware delivers even more tangible benefits, in the finished image quality with bitrates potentially up to 176 Mbps. Now and then there is unpredictable behavior on a shoot where you can least afford it, and sometimes someone finds their GH2 "bricked". One of my bodies was purchased used and is long out of warranty so I may convince myself to try one of the firmware "patches", but for now I make do with the features Panasonic provided.

And I still have a 60D I run with only "stock" firmware.

So when some tell you, "Well I don't have any problems with ML", ask them if they will buy you a new camera if yours winds up with a heat damaged battery compartment or mainboard.
