Default Game #432 - Destination Moon

    Game version 1
    One picture from one movie:

    Rule 1:
NO IMAGE HOSTING ON EXTERNAL SERVERS.
Images for the games need to be ATTACHED to the post, and thus uploaded to our server.

    Rule 2:
TWO GUESSES PER PERSON PER POSTED PICTURE!!! Those two guesses are not allowed to be in the same post, NOR in a consecutive post. I.e. you can post one guess, then have to wait for someone else to guess: your second guess is not allowed to be immediately following your first guess.

    Rule 3:
The WINNER of the game can start a new game IN A NEW THREAD.
NO ONE ELSE (unless yielded so by the winner).

    Rule 4:
Once there's a winner, PLEASE post the correct name into the thread (spelled correctly, and capitalized correctly, and not in italics or bold face.)

    Rule 5:
The correct title format is: "Game" / space / "#" / number.
    Example: " Game #12" (without the ")
(no space between the # sign and the number!)

    Rule 6:
The film selected should be one that has had an international, theatrical release.
I.e. a made-for-TV movie only shown in the USA would hardly be a fair entry, as
    we have international players also.

    Rule 7:
These complete rules (1 to 7) have to be copy & pasted into each new game's first post.

Okay this should be a fun one. I apologize for once again having only a low quality version, but I'm not sure a better version exists online of this particular movie (hint #1).

Oh dear, you have a Robert A. Heinlein fan on this end (also Clarke and Asimov)...

"Destination Moon" made in the early 1950s...

How did you get that from a clock? I knew I should have led with Woody Woodpecker!

Janke would have got it even quicker if you had done that, PH!

"Destination Moon" is a pretty boring movie, actually. George Pal's production is just as wooden as his usual puppets! The Woody Woodpecker sequence is the only sequence that really stands out, and the only real highlight IMHO...

What makes the movie (at least somewhat ) interesting is the Heinlein connection, and the fact that it tries to be scientifically correct - in 1950...

By the way, and something I've not seen mentioned elsewhere: if you're familiar with the two Tintin comic books about Moon exploration (published just a few years later), then I think you'd have to agree that Hergé must have stolen quite freely from this film; many scenes and ideas, and even details of the rocket are direct copies!

    Next game coming up soon!
