HV20, recorded tapes will not play. viewable in FF, but not in "play"

I have recorded informaiton on mini DV tapes and my HV20 will not play the tapes. I can fast forward and see the footage and when I release FF the action just stops. Pressing "play" does nothing at all. A tad frustrated. Any ideas? Thank you.

Hmmm it sounds like your head is worn as i guess you may have tried a head cleaner already?

If not try a head cleaner first and then the tapes again. Then find someone / repair shop with a similar camcorder like you go ie. the hdv and up series and try your tape. If it plays it off the back then you are good to go. Then its your head.

Note, rather strangely you can have the head worn out in a way that it only plays in that camcorder you recorded it and bits and pieces if you are lucky in others. i have had it - happen to me once.

This seem the most likely cause/solution. At least it was in my case.
