    Default I can't capture from my HV40!

    Hey

I've had my HV40 for two years now, and sure, every once in a while, my program says that it "can't connect with the camera, try resetting it", but then I shut it off, and on again, and tadaa, everything is fine.
    ...
but,,, today I haven't been able to get it to connect with my program,,, what's up with that?
Nothing has changed as far as I know.

    Any ideas?

I connect via a firewire cable, and I use Adobe Premiere Pro cs5 as my program

I had that problem but I can't remember what I did.
I had to do a lot of research online to find a fix.

That happened with my HV30 the other day. Simply turning it off and back on in play mode didn't help. Only after putting it in camera mode then play mode while on did it connect. I hope that works for you too.

Well, this has happened before, as I said, and turning it off and on or switching to camera then play usually works. But no, it doesn't work, it cannot connect nomatter what I try.

PoolboyFilms, please, if you can remember anything your might have searched for, or anything at all, that would be a great help.

    Ok I found the solution.
It was however nothing that the program, camera or computer did, it was a human error.
I had put the Capture (in general) to DV instead of HDV. I don't remember changing this, so I must have done it by accident.
    Everything works now.

If something lik this happens to you, I suggest you go through every single step of everything, and check everything. That is what I did, and that is how I found out that it was an error as simple as this (the one step I usually never check).

Thats the scientific method. It looks like you remembered it.
