Thread: CS5.5 issue

  1. #1

    Default CS5.5 issue

I have had no problems til a day or two ago..

my timeline wouldn't play, so I saved the project and reopened it. when I did.. I'm given a message stating..

"The preset used by one or more sequences in this project requires third party components that could not be located. These sequences will be modified to use a custom sequence setting instead. To continue editing using original preset, quit the aplication without saving the project, re-install and third party components that are required and re-open the project"

I click ok, and it opens the project but all of my clips are then offline. I don't want to be having to relink the clips all the time. So I reinstalled a few times, and on the 3rd try it was working.. now we are at it again... any suggestions?

This sounds like two separate issues: the relinking clips and the third party plug-in? In any event, I suspect there is a change in name or location causing the need to relink, so I'd check there first.

As for the rest, what clip is it that won't play. Is it some codec not compatible with Premiere or did you import a sequence from another editors?

Reverted to Trial instead of full install?

Adobe can be a massive PITA. I've gone back to CS5 rather than 5.5 or 6. CS5 does all I need.

Actually it has becomes more stable and intuitive. Premiere has a gorgeous new customizable interface that I think is the best in the business. However, it does require some amount of relearning on how to configure and use it to maximum efficiency. Once that's done, using it is a breeze.

After uninstalling, running CS5 cleaner etc, and reinstalling - I went back to CS5, for now.

yeah, hiring half of Apple's Final Cut team really bears fruit for Adobe. The interface is still clunky like hell, but, at least, looks cleaner now.
