woah man, calm down
I was just asking for some feedback. Not sure why you're being so rude.
Anyways, the contest hasn't ended yet, so I'm not sure how you read that i "didn't win"
Hey, mark84j, come on, he was just asking for help. He wasn't out commenting on every post and section filling them with garbage, he just posted a video in the FOOTAGE section and asked for help. Is any other video posted here asking for feedback spam as well?
It's alright.
Maybe there's no feedback because it's....well, neither outstandingly bad or outstandingly good.
It's just sort of..there.
Some fight sequences are pretty well done, although sound effects lack "volume" or grandness.
Concept is okay, I guess; unfortunately the girl (and the dialogue) at the end doesn't really "bring it home".
With a more solid performance at the end, it may have had a better impact.
Nothing terrible; it's pretty neat I guess. Some technical issues here and there.
Overall I'd give it a 5 out of 10. It's average; nothing stands out.
Just my RMB 0.02.
Thanks 1,
I appreciate the honest feedback! I personally not a fan of fight scenes with unrealistic sound effects, so I tried to make them sound like it would if i actually recorded the person getting punched. I actually recorded a few audio segments of my brother punching me (he was glad to help out) so i could not only use those sounds, but match the other sounds from my sound library.
There were several things I wasn't really happy about, but i was on a time crunch and had to just go with it (I uploaded the video 2 days before the original deadline. I wanted to have SOME time to get views). I was pretty ticked at first when I found out they extended the contest because if I would have know, I would have redone several things, but ohwell.
If you have any advice on how I could improve for future projects I'd GREATLY appreciate it!
Thanks!
EDIT: Also, this is something I spent some time on, and haven't heard ANY comments on, SOO... what did you guys think about how I added the logo into several scenes?
Yeah, I noticed that.
The thing is, we're so accustomed to what movies "tell" us things sounds like, that when we hear the actual REAL sound, it unfortunately sounds "fake".
Odd isn't it?
Similarly with color correction: a natural looking, no color correction added, realistic colored action film would be laughed at!
Adding the logo was neat, but I think it will only be really appreciated by the judges/company. It didn't add much to my viewing pleasure!![]()
Yeah, unfortunately it's true. Same goes with muzzle flashes, which I'll admit I made mine more like what is expected, because that's what people wanted to see. As for the logo, I agree for the general viewer, it's not a big deal, but part of contest is (quote from the contest guidelines on the site) "Creative incorporation of the new Zip Line Gear logo into the video". All the other entries I've seen (which I think I've seen all of them, unless one is hiding) just have the logo at the beginning or end, which to me it expected, boring, and just uncreative. I mean, it's definitely needed in my opinion, which is why I included it at the end along with a buddy of mine who doesn't some radio work to say their name and slogan. It was also good motion tracking practice! haha
Wow, THAT is totally lame. Yous is a MUCH better execution of that requirement!
Let's hope the judges don't watch too many of the others before yours; they might not even see your logos!
They'll go: "We have to disqualify this one; he doesn't have the logo at the end or beginning!"
Ouch!
Well, I still did put the logo at the end, but in the video on youtube I added an annotation and a pause function. The video pauses right at the beginning, giving the viewer enough time to read the annotation. The annotation explains that they're there. I also put it in the description, but I'm not sure if the judges will read the description, so i wanted to be safe.
Another good thing is I made sure I used good tags, so when you search in youtube for things involving the contest, mine is one of the first ones to show up.
I've also noticed that in the contest guidelines they said to include the tag "2012ziplinegear" and a lot of the entries didn't.
Tomorrow, early morning, I'm departing for my trip out of country, and won't be back till the last day of the contest, which means I won't be able to share or promote my entry during that duration. SO, I'm making one last bump for my absence. Any more feedback or comments would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Glad you could go. Have a fun trip! Good luck!
