Default "Love Room" - Argentinian music video shot on the GH2

Hi! Here's a music video I've recently shot for an Argentinian synthpop band called "Distant Project" (most of their lyrics are in English).
It was shot on my new GH2 that arrived only 3 days before the shoot! I was able to buy it after I sold my beloved HV40 (thanks to this commercial: http://www.hv20.com/showthread.php?4...V40-commercial!).
I used a Minolta MD 50mm f1.7, the Panny 20mm f1.7 and the 14-42mm kit lens, all of it in 720p50 (we tried 60p but the song was too fast for the guitar -when playing the solo- and the drums to follow properly!).

One thing to note: I used the EOSHD Unified 88Mbit hack, but although the 1080p24 was beautiful, all of the 720p footage I shot was always between 11 and 30Mbps and showed a lot of compression artifacting. I didn't have time to test it, so it was a dissapointment to see how lower the quality was in comparison to 24p. After reading a lot I've come to learn that 720p is a different kind of beast to tame, but perhaps it's wrong to say that the Unified patch is all intra, or at least all 88Mbit? I love the 24p and would definitely keep it, but I do use 720p quite often and I've found Driftwood's Sedna or even Sanity to behave a lot better. Bummer.

Quite nice. How did you light the scenes and how many takes in all? Now the part where the guy had his back to the stage in the auditorium, etc was that greenscreen or were you in that location? Whats the conceptual idea for the 'slow' feel of the action/video?

Thanks. Depending on the scenes we used a 160 LED portable light, a 250 and 500w tungsten light and a couple of LED colored stage lights. We also sometimes used the available artificial light and there always was some natural sunlight coming from some window or crack in the ceiling (the place is kinda old and worn) or bouncing around.

As for the singer against the stage, it's funny you asked me that, 'cause it's the same thing a friend of mine asked me yesterday: there's no greenscreen. That shot was indeed made on location, with the singer standing on an interior balcony giving his back to the stage. I shot him from a small window in the control room using the 20mm pancake. From that same position I shot the close-up using the 50mm and then I went downstairs next to him to do the detail shots again using the 50mm.

The concept behind the slow motion was to give the video a dreamy, oniric feel, where the band members find inspiration in the different rooms of that forgotten place where many artists have performed, and engage in a creative endeavour all together. It's kind of an homage to the many people who inspired them. The ending shots are reminiscent of that concept as well as serving as an echo to the album's artwork.

Really Nice Job. Love the feel. It is very UN-real looking. In a great way. The song is good too. The falling pictures are pretty sweet. What is the location you filmed in?

    Default contractual terms- music video

    hello

while talking about music videos, i would like to ask a quick question about how contractual agreements on music videos go.

is it a fee fixed like a wedding gig or is it per screening ie should it be on tv etc. or... and how much have you charged so far and what goes into it rehearsal times or ...?

can those with experience please inform the discussion.
