    Default Distant Promise [short-film]

    Hello everyone,

I used to be a frequent visitor of HV20 forum, back when i had a pair of HV20. I was such a big fan of it that I named my youtube account HV20. Needless to say, i don't use them anymore. At any rate, below is the link to a short-film that I and a group of friends recently did using all the best tools that we have. It was shot using the Canon 5Dmark II, the Canon 7D, and the Panasonic AG AF. The Panasonic AG AF is pretty good at getting rid of flickers on screens. I doubt if you could identify which scenes was shot with what though.

    Cheers!

    Well done!

A little criticism: (hopefully I'm not harsh and this is constructive.)

As an editor, I watched it twice - one time completely muted, because I enjoy watching cuts/coloring/etc. There were times when I wish it didn't cut (Near the beginning on the phone; when the girl walks away after the books got picked up) It would have been a great moment to have a beat without a cut there. The second thing I really noticed was the color grading. The one that jarred me the most was at the end - 7:16 to 7:17.

    Otherwise, good job

    Good job!

My ten cents is about the ADR. The sync is badly out in places and the sound doesn't match some of the locations. When outside, the speech parts have a slightly roomy sound. This makes it look unnatural and distances the viewer somewhat.

I know very little about ADR, but I know it's common practice in commercial productions. I suspect it's very difficult to get right and, perhaps, makes doing location sound a more attractive option.
The Korova milkbar sold milk-plus, milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom, which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence.

7:16 was Panasonic AG AF footage. It was grayish for some reason...
