Default Bad quality when ingesting into Fcpx

Hello, I get a really bad image when I watch my clips in full screen resolution in Fcp x. Can it be because Fcpx doesn't let me ingest it as optimized media and only as proxy? How do I get Fcpx to transcode my clips to prores422 HQ? It doesn't seem to be available. Thanks

What's your source? HDV is already optimized. Did you check "Use Proxy" in the Playback Preferences?

I also noticed that the real-time replay quality from the timeline may not be full-HD - may depend on your hardware?

Janke, you can set if you want Playback Performance or Quality. If set to Quality, you'll get HD. Performance scales it to your hardware's abilities.

One thing I noticed: FCP X doesn't like nVidia GPU in the MBP too much (or the other way around). The best performance you get out of AMD/ATI cards.

    Yup, I should have known...

I have the ATI Radeon HD 4670 in my iMac.

    Hi
I've got an MBP bot about a year ago with NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M card. I was going to get the trial of FCPX to see how it works. Am I going to get crappy playback? Any other problems I should be aware of?

Load it up with the full 8GB of RAM.

I have the same machine. It does fine. Only thing I miss is the Thunderbold port. That'd be hot.

Thx. I have a book on dslr & FCPX coming in the next couple days, intend to download trial and get into with video shot for doc. Got nothing against PP, have used a little, seems inferior to FCP7 tho I like its connection to AE but many projects I don't need AE so I want X to work for me.
