Instead of buying Adobe Premiere 6 you can just rent it by the month.
I think this would be a very reasonable solution for a particular project you were doing post production on.

I'd get it for $39
The question is: If you don't use it for a couple of months, do you have to jump through many loops to re-activate it? How fast will the re-activation be?
I have the Master Suite (edumacation license) on order. It was cheaper for me than the cloud version, as I don't plan on upgrading for at least 3 years - that'd be $1,404 (cloud) vs. $799 (box).

Ah, the 49 bucks is only for a one-year contract... on demand costs $75/mo.
Seems Adobe has found a new way to print money.

On May 28th, Lightworks will be only $60 a year.
Haven't looked into it for quite a while, as the ports to LINUX or OS X still don't have a release date. How stabile is it now?
The free version will still be available?

A free version will be available. The current beta is quite stable though limited in codec support. The free version that will be available on the 28th will most likely be void of a lot of the pro features, but at $60 per year for the same software* that cut movies the likes of Shutter Island, The Kings Speech, and Hugo, who wouldn't fork out such a small amount for such a capable NLE?
* - The software version used on those films was tied to a specialized hardware platform. The new version will run on practically any computer (Windows only at the moment).
Disclaimer - I have no monetary interest in Editshare, the developers of Lightworks. It's just that I get a thrill up my leg thinking about having access to a professional NLE at such a ridiculously low cost.
Well, Editshare lives pretty well from the infrastructure around Lightworks.![]()

Right, Editshare's main business is asset management and storage for the big guys. Lightworks is frosting on the cake they're allowing us to lick.
at 30 a month for the first year, and then 50 a month for the next year, it makes sense.
i was going to upgrade my production suite to cs6, at a cost of 375.00, for 360.00 for the next 12 months, i basically upgrade to the master collection.
the second year, it's 600 for the whole year, so i maintain the master collection instead of just production.
it would cost over 1000 bucks to go to the master collection from production, and i have been using muse, it'd be nice to have dream weaver, in design and illustrator.
so for two years, i've paid less then the cost for one upgrade, and would get most likely two point upgrades.
i normally upgrade yearly when the point release is out, so in my case, it's going to save money. plus, if i get disappointed with cs6 at the end of the year, i can dump it, go back to 5.5 and be happy having only spent 360 for the year.
another plus of the creative cloud is i've installed on both osx and windows. its nice being able to run on both platforms without having to buy two separate licenses.
