Default HV40: Black & White Shooting Question

I am shooting a short piece using my HV-40 that needs to be in Black & White.

All my tests to date have been shot using the HV-40's black & white option (other settings at 24F and TV)

However, is there any compelling reason that makes it smarter to shoot in color and then convert to black and white in post? (e.g. I've learned that photo button f-stop check does not work in B&W setting)

I am confident in my basic knowledge of the HV-40 but my knowledge of editing and post workflow is still at the beginning of the learning curve. Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Personally I'd shoot in color and B&W in post: more control in post to adjust. You can manually set the channels to the desired levels. Read more about it here.

Thank you for the Cambridge in Color website. Excellent info. I think I will shoot initially in color and experiment with filters in post to extract a B&W image to my liking.

Just do it via Hue/Saturation: that way you can select what you want to decrease and increase via individual channels.
