Default dvd architect and vegas best quality

    hi,
i have done my first edited dvd from my canon hv20 hd tape, using sony vegas 8. It seems to have worked fine my film lasts 52 minutes and the rendered file used 2.25gb but i notice the dvd as only used 55% i did put 9.8 mbps on dvd architect so i thought it would be constant rate but i have checked the mbps when playing the dvd and it varies from 5 to 9 mbps. The dvd architect told me that estimate of project said it was going to use 55% of 4.7 gb media but is there any way i can get the dvd architect to use up more of the space available obviously i would not want it to recompress as that would cause losses could i have rendered it at a higher mbps on it for better quality if so where are the options to do it also where by is 2 pass on architect i cant find it.

I think you may have inadvertently answered your own questions. The quality of your final product depends on its destination. So you should render at the highest setting based on the space available, destination, or other criteria you may have.

No you would not. Consider that DVD your practice run. And you are correct about the re-compressing causing a loss of quality. Nerve re-compress from a rendered product. Rather, make a new DVD based on the higher settings you have in mind.

I can't help you with this one; I don't know DVD Architect. But if they offer you presets, I would start there. Then make the finer adjustments (if you have them) to suit my taste/space/etc.
