Default Best wide angel lens for HV30

    Hi everyone,

I know there already are a lot of threads about this subject, but they are all quite old.

I want to buy the best existing wide angle lens for my Canon HV30 camera. The most important thing for me is, that there is no loss of image quality when using the lens.

    Which one should i buy?

It's still the Raynox or the Canon. Lens designs don't change that often.

Is that Raynox HD-6600 and Canon WD-H43? Or are there any newer models?

    Thank you.

    Nothing new under the sun.

As I said, lens designs don't change often. The engineering in the HV's lens is already about 100 years old. The only things that changed were better materials and manufacturing processes every 20 years.

You'd have the choice, as CGbier said, between Raynox HD-6600 or Canon WD-H43.
The Raynox is a good one (I own one) which has front threads but you can't zoom in fully without getting a "foggy image", like that:

The Canon WD-H43 on the other hand, doesn't have front threads but you can zoom in fully without any image degradation like the Raynox. Here's some sample of the Canon WA lens. Here's a comparison chart between both lenses.
I DO IT BECAUSE I CAN. I CAN BECAUSE I WANT TO. I WANT TO BECAUSE YOU SAID I COULDN'T.
