The thread on the front of my MASSA 34mm wide angle lens is apparently a 47mm thread. I wanted to attach this matte box that has a 77mm mounting thread.

I've been able to get some 57mm (Nikon macro tubes) to 58mm...but 47 seems a little "non-standard" isn't it?
    What is it for?

    This one? http://www.emixt.com/massa-34mm-0-45...-dv-japan.html
There's not even any mention of a filter thread.

I wouldn't buy that lens at all, and if you are thinking of matte boxes and stuff, start with some good glass.

Yeah thats the one on a website it mentioned that the front filter thread was a 47mm thread. What do you mean start with some good glass?

That the one he linked doesn't worth it. The Raynox or the Canon ones are the best available on the market. Less than that, don't waste your money.
What's the lens you'll be using? Can you link it?

Draps, it is the lens I linked to.

Christian, in the specs it says lens diameter 47mm, so it can't be the filter thread. I'd assume it's rather 43.

By starting with good glass, I meant to buy a good W/A lens from Raynox or Canon. The thing you got is a 25 dollar paperweight.

Are you sure you want to screw a matte box onto a filter thread?
