This thing is getting a bit annoying to upkeep.

Server exploited and renamed by host....

    lol,

interestingly, the host wrote this in their email to me:

"- Check your local computer(s) for viruses and spyware/keyloggers. While
using a Mac is a pretty good deterrent, it is no longer full
    [sic] proof and a
    scan will be necessary."

If I'd have a faster internet connection, I'd host the site on my own server. Unfortunately, as it is, I have to rely on a virtual dedicated server for now,....

Jeez Mal, no chance you could find someone to entrust (with knowledge in these things) to help you when this goes down and you're not around to fix it?

Good to see it back online though... I start going through violent withdrawals unless I get my fix.

I was afraid this morning when I saw that Error 404 when loading the page. The day has been quite quiet without any notifications from here until very recently...
I DO IT BECAUSE I CAN. I CAN BECAUSE I WANT TO. I WANT TO BECAUSE YOU SAID I COULDN'T.

    Thanks Mal.
The Korova milkbar sold milk-plus, milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom, which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence.

I was actually on the site last night reading through some old threads when it went out.

Good to see one of the best sites around back up!

Mal, even though you don't hear it too often (except maybe just now ) , you know how much we all appreciate the time and effort you put into this site.

Many thanks from all of us!

Thanks all you guys for the kind words.

It's been an uphill battle to keep this site ad-free for all this time, and administer it from China where my internet connection is anything but fast.

So, glad you're all here, enjoying the site. It DOES make it all worthwhile...

From me too, even though the hack thread really pissed me off. (Kidding)

Mal - Quoting doesn't seem to work anymore, at least not in Firefox 12...

Maybe you're just holding it wrong.

    Heh, CG...

Yup, Firefox 12 is the newest version for Win/OSX/Linux - but quoting in version 3.6 didn't work, either... and neither does the edit function, the text window comes up blank...

Yes, I noticed that too. Funnily enough, on a different computer with Firefox 13 it works fine. Not sure where the problem lies...

I have something similar with another forum. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. My non-educated guess is that timeouts are the reason. In the few moments I get the internet speed I pay for, it works perfectly. On a slow day it doesn't.
