Good news for gh-2 enthusiasts

What's up guys? Well I finally pulled the trigger on the GH2, I couldn't resist the deal. If you become a fan on facebook, you will get the gh2/14-42mm kit for only $649.

That's only four bucks more than I just paid for used body only...

I don't "lament" these things, glad I did what I did when I did it. I think you got a great deal, myself.

I have a bunch of FD lenses so I ordered a fd adapter but the 2 lenses I really want for the gh2 is the Olympus 45mm and Olympus 12mm f2. Now the long wait for the gh2 to arrive

A lot of folks swear by those fd lenses but where this camera really "shines" (IMO) is with Panasonic and Olympus M4/3 lenses. I have the 45mm and it's everything good that's being said about it with nice "clean" color tones and good inherent contrast.

It's going to be awhile before I can seriously look at that 12mm f2 but every picture I've seen done with it is sharp and clean. It may not be necessary for me if I can live with the 12mm end of the "kit" lens that I pre-ordered the Olympus OMD E-M5 with.

The Lumix 14mm f2.5 and the Lumix 20mm f1.7 are also SUPER lenses to use on both the GH2 and the Olympus Pen's. I've got both of those and the 20mm has been on my GH2 most of the time while I've been getting used to the GH2 menu structure.

One thing I really like about both the GH2 and the Pen E-P3 is that people don't take me as seriously as they do when I walk around with a big Canon 7D, 60D, or any other "largish" DSLR. I can look so much like a tourist nobody really "messes" with me, which lets me get still images and video almost unnoticed.

Saturday I used all 3 of my batteries. I always throw the ones I'm not using on the charger as I change them out, so I never run out.

I'd use an AC adapter then, especially if you can power it (indoor) or even outdoor with an extension. Then I'd use the batteries for "run&gun" situations, or "mobile" shooting.

Not necessary. With 3 batteries and a way to recharge the ones not in the camera, there's no real need for another cable for crew to "trip" on. When I first got my 7D I only had one battery for it, yet I used it for a pretty full day's shooting. When not actually shooting a scene the camera was turned off to conserve power.

When we took a "supper break" the battery went on charge and at the end of the evening still had half a charge on it.

I now have 2 Panasonic batteries for the GH2, and two aftermarket batteries with their own charger. In another week or two I'll order another Panasonic battery and that will make 3 of those and 2 aftermarket ones.

No need for an AC adapter.
