Hi all,
I am new here on this forum, however, a lot of the best info I've gotten in regards to working in 24p with the HV20 has been here so I've read up some.
So... As it stands I have 1) recorded in 24p 2) used MPEG-slipstream to capture 3) used compressor to perform pulldown. This is where the train stops as I noticed some heavy combing/interlace in my footage. Reading up I saw that with my graphics card (GMA 950) and laptop monitor, interlace is common and using MPEG slipstream to deinterlace fixes this problem. Well, I did that and the footage is stunning so I'm happy!
My question now is if I am planning on making a short film for youtube and will be editing transitions and speeding up/slowing down my footage in FCP should I be deinterlacing before all my editing? Clearly the benefit would be that this would allow me to watch the footage as I edit without interlace but would I be better off editing with an HDMI monitor and deinterlace after all the editing?
Any help is appreciate!
Ben
