    Default DIY foam windscreen

Any idea what/where to get the right type of foam to make a DIY windscreen? Audio-Technica no longer makes them for the AT815B and there are none on eBay.

I want to get a Micover deadcat, but it requires a foam windscreen.

Well, wouldn't that one fits your mic?

Yeah, but it's "temporarily out of stock" and won't ever come back in stock because AT is no longer making them.

B&H is selling a bunch of third party windscreens in several sizes. You surely will find one...

Only one that's 12 inches internally and they want $49 for it... Hence my question about what kind of foam to use to make a DIY one.

If I can't do a DIY foam windscreen, then I'll probably just skip it and go for a DIY blimp. There's a few really good videos on that.

It needs to be "open-cell" foam.

    Closed-cell "mattress foam" won't do...

Easy to check: You should see some light directly through very tiny holes in a 1/8" to 1/4" thickness of the foam.

Amazingly... I had everything measured and I was ready to purchase some foam during a trip into Kansas City when I got an email from B&H whilst driving to KC. The original foam from AT was back in stock. I ordered it and it actually came. So no DIY necessary this time.

Next is to get a fur screen from Micover.
