Thread: Clicking sound and no rewind

Default Clicking sound and no rewind

hello there I seem to have a bit of a problem with my HV20. I bought it used and it worked great but one day it ran out of battery while playing it and when I used it again the "remove tape" sign appeared. I put in a new HDV tape and it started clicking and said remove tape. I put in this time a regular DV tape and again it clicked and said remove tape. I've managed to play and record, but rewind and ff is all but gone before it clicks insanely and says remove tape. Any clues or can it be fixed?

    Thanks!

Did you try running a cleaning tape?

Actually I did and that's what made it play and record but for some reason it won't rewind or fast forward without clicking like crazy and having "remove tape" message of doom. Before the cleaning tape it wouldn't even release the tapes at times so I'm kinda perplexed at is it mechanical or should I run the cleaning tape again. Thanks again for your time

Have you tried the reset button (power & battery off, press button in battery compartment for 10 seconds) ?

Sounds more like a mechanical problem to me. You should at least get it checked out. The clicking doesn't sound right.

I'll try the reset thanks! but in case it's mechanical, I do have an SD miniDV canon that I don't use any more could I use the parts from that camera to my hv20? like the casette armature or the gears that turn the tape?

I doubt it but if you want to at least try... take it to a professional. Do not attempt it yourself.

Most probably (= almost certainly) not.
