Yeah, Iron Sky is a must for every Finn (most expensive Finnish film, ever!) - the premiere here is on April 4th...

If you don't happen to know, the director's previous sci-fi parody, "Star Wreck", is available for free, and legally, on the web: http://lame.lut.fi/starwreck/

I'm looking forward to the Hobbit. It's just been pimped out for so long, before it even started production, that the excitement factor just isn't there any more. I wish they'd release a better trailer.

Starwreck was great! Hope Iron Sky's gonna make it to iTunes.

That means we'll probably get the DVD on April 2nd, which has "FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION" flashing on the screen every now and then!

Star Wreck: In the Perkining is a classic. I believe the director started out using a game creator for Stunt Island to make his first Star Wreck movies.

Yup, worse than "Ishtar" and "Cutthroat Island" (the latter was directed by Finnish Renny Harlin, who put his then wife Geena Davis into the female lead role...)

I have to agree. Ishtar has been famous for a long time for being such a bad movie. SO I watched it to see how bad it was. It's terrible. What I mean by that is it lacks any entertainment value. It's not the good kind of terrible like Birdemic. There's nothing to even laugh about. You couldn't even put it on Mystery Science Theater 3000. It's just boring.

I've seen parts of Cuthroat Island. You'd think Gina Davis running around in a pirate costume would be enough, but it's not. Terribly boring movie.

    Unlike Transylvania 65000.

Out of costume, yes. But not in costume.

Aye, I understand that's the consensus, yet, I found it more interesting than 9 hours of:

Well worth a watch, if only to see some of the outrageous stunts Geena does herself (i.e., crashing through a second-story window in a forward roll, landing on a passing horse-drawn carriage).

Not much since Sam Mendes has been mentionned. For me though. I simply don't think it's "his style" but let's see if he's versatile.

I agree. My kids loved it also. I really didn't expect anything more out of this film. Maybe it's because we keep the TV on the Disney channel and they've been advertising the heck out of it for the last few months.

Anyways...I saw the "Prometheus" trailer yesterday for the first time and then seen this thread this morning for the first time. That is the number one movie I'm looking forward to seeing (by myself since it doesn't seem like it would be kid friendly...think Ridley Scott).

But the number one kid friendly movie for me would be the "Avengers" movie. Though that looks same old same old.

It's hard to describe but often PG13 tends to appeal to kids and tweens, and not me.

That doesn't mean a Disney movie can't be really entertaining, or that something needs to be R rated. I loved Monsters Inc. and it's rated G.

But sometimes the Disney touch just isn't right for the subject matter. I loved the books by Edgar Rice Burroughs so this was a real let down.

This felt a lot like Prince of Persia:Sands of Time:
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0473075/

A complete lack of character development, and generic combat where the combatants are more like bloodless figurines than someone you might actually care about if they got hurt. It's just soulless.

    How bad is John Carter?

    http://cinemademerde.com/John_Carter_How_Bad.shtml

Here's a survey of the most descriptive lines from the critical mass:

I want to beat the producers with a hammer until their skulls are split open so zombies can eat them easier.

I will say that I am confident that I could eat the scripts to any 3 films ever written and lalalala out a more entertaining movie than John Carter.

I would rather spend 132 minutes on fire than watch this again.

Please, don't sodomize your children with this abomination.

I really wish a time machine would go back and erase the 2 hours of me watching this movie.

I was bored to tears for 2 hours and never want to experience JOHN CARTER again!

If a bomb exploded and killed [all the characters] off, I wouldn't have cared.

Even 13-year-olds walked out the theater!

Red Letter Media gave John Carter a relatively good review. Not that I want to see it any more. I also have no interest at all in Hunger Games, but this is getting a little off topic. I do want to see Prometheus. It's been a while since the last good sci-fi.

People are giving Hunger games good reviews, so I'll probably check it out.

Charlie read the book in less than 5hours last weekend, so I bet she'll go watch the movie at the theater.
