    Default Looking for a blog...

from s film maker that goes from the day s/he started the process to the end results after submitting to festivals, etc..

Does anyone know of such a site? I've been searching google and I've found dozens of blogs about films that are either still in production or the project got abandoned.

Thanks. Nice read and it looks great. I'm looking for something a little more in-depth if anyone knows of anything.

There's people here who have documented their film from the start til a festival run and so on. As well as a bunch on dvxuser.com you can check out at the user film section. These are only the sites I frequent though.

I'm looking for tips on creating a successful Kickstarter campaign. I'm looking for tips on organization. I'd like to see a pre-production gear list. I'm interested in tips on low-light shooting using zooms. I pretty much know what I need for crew, but where can I find a list in case I'm missing something/someone? Where can I get liability insurance for a short film?

For this shoot I'm interested in "hiring" someone to do color correction and possibly sound editing and I'm curious about how I'd go about finding someone and what I could expect to pay. Should I have that nailed down *before* we shoot?

When creating a shooting schedule, how many extra days of shooting should I schedule in case things go wrong? We'll be shooting in a grocery store, should I schedule/reserve it for double or triple the amount of time I think it will take to shoot the scene?

When reviewing the dailies, should it be done immediately at the end of the shooting day? Or should we be reviewing them as we shoot and think we have our shot for a scene?

How do we get our cast and crew IMDB credit? Is there an in-depth page on the process? I've already got a WithoutaBox account and used it to submit an earlier short to some festivals. Are there festivals that don't use WithoutaBox? What else should we do for marketing?

I figured if someone documents their entire journey from beginning to end, I might get a lot of that answered and it would be a fun read. But I haven't found anything with a lot of details, just lots of stories.

ps. FWIW, I plan to do just this for our project. Document the process from beginning to end on this next project and include all the little details. I just registered a new domain name and I'll install WordPress over the weekend then post a link.

If I was going to do a running thread with updates, which area should I post it in? Artistic or Footage?

Actually we're going to shoot it in Kansas City (both the Kansas and Missouri sides).

Cool beans. I know some Missouri film folk, but mostly around the opposite edge of the state: Columbia to St. Louis. I look forward to reading about your exploits and then watching your movie!

JM2C, I think your production journal might best fit in the 'Artistic Discussion' sub-forum.

That would be the best I think, unless he posts some footage of it as "samples" from posts to posts.

No prob! I think you're the one that shared most of his stuff since the beginning of the project! I personally, didn't shared much, mainly because I haven't done much since!
