Default Sigma users . I have some questions

I have a Sigma 17-50 F/2.8 OS lens. I am very happy with this lens, works great for video. My question is for still photo. The lens only do auto focus if I turn the dial to auto mode. Auto focus will not work under creative mode ( P, TV mode example) If I use creative mode, I have to do manual focus. Can some one confirm this. Or this is a firm ware up date required. I appreciated any inputs.

my girlfriend has this lens and it hasn't shown those problems. She usually shoots in full manual mode or in aperture priority mode and it autofocuses correctly the few times she uses it (we like manual focusing pretty much all of the time.

I have tested a few (older, maybe 1990s) Sigma EF-mount lenses on my T2i/550D, and there were compatibility problems, the lenses did not communicate properly with the camera.

Thank you all for your inputs. I got this lens mainly for video and the image quality is so good and I am not returning for exhange it because am worry that I ended up recieving a bad copy. I'll just do manual focus under creative mode OR I'll just leave the dial to AUTO mode.

For most closeup or shots under 10 feet away you'd want to focus manually. For all other shots including long distance, landscape, architecture it's a worthless lens that won't get you nearly as sharp image as a stock canon lens.
